27 febbraio Fighting Fatigue - Failing FalderalBeen dealing with mom-in-law's health issues this week (looks like she will be fine). Too late to think of a falderal. Will try to come up with something tomorrow.
How was your week? gail
20 febbraio Finally, Flora Filled FalderalA few years ago we moved two potted pathos plants to a countertop to move them out of the way for a party. They "rooted" in that place until a couple of days ago.
As a matter of fact, I have been on a countertop clearing binge this week. Isn't it amazing how big a mess one can make when cleaning and clearing up? You move things to clean an area then you have to figure out where to put the stuff to get them off the area you dumped them on. I am bound and determined to take care of this today.
Unlike when the kids were younger, we, as a family, have moved away from eating at the kitchen table together. There is always too much "stuff" on it and schedules vary. Also, The Boy is a picky eater. Well, I have decided that I am going to cook for Himself and me. If The Boy doesn't like what I make there is always peanut butter, eggs, cereal, etc. Getting Himself to go along with the program has been a struggle but I think he is finally getting in the spirit, so to speak. (He would give our son money to buy dinner elsewhere.
With The Girl and Bells moving back I definitely want the little one to have the routine of family meals. She needs routine.
Speaking of Bells, The Girl and I met with the Child Study Team and Bells starts school on Wednesday! I am really impressed with the individual lesson plan they have developed for her and I believe she will respond well to the people who will be working with her.
Getting back to decluttering, I think the key is getting rid of things you don't love and don't need. The next step is not replacing the stuff! It's been said that when you break a habit you have to replace it with something else. Just don't replace it with something equally bad like overeating for smoking. In the long run, from what I hear, it may be just as bad, although I think dying from a heart attack would be preferable to suffering from emphysema for years.
It's the same thing with spiritual "clutter." I've been blessed to have people helping me to get rid of negative beliefs and negative thinking. For example, thinking that I am not lovable or that something in my past has the power to make my life miserable now. I realize now that neither is true! However, if I don't replace those negatives with positives, they are going to creep right back into my mind and affect my life negatively.
Therefore, I am looking for ways to change my old ways. Instead of thinking, "I'll never get the countertops just right, I am now trying to think, and act out, "One step at a time. It doesn't have to be done in one day and it doesn't have to be perfect."
Positive for negative. God's truth against satan's lies. God's love vs. satan's hate for us. That enemy wants us to hate ourselves because it takes away from God's glory. Don't give in!
Falderal:
Are you a naturally organized person or do you have to work at it? Truth be told I was a very organized, neat person until I got fed up with my sister, whom I shared a room with, leaving a mess all the time. Now I am not all that neat and she is a neatnik. Love you sis.
Is there anyone in particular who makes you want to be a better you? Besides God, I believe it would have to be everyone I have contact with. I have a yearning to share the love of God with as many people as I make contact with. He has transformed my heart and, like not being able to explain a grandparent's love to someone who is not a grandparent, only the experience of God's love can fill your heart with His joy!
Do you take advantage of the day after Valentine's day and other holiday half price candy sales? I've been munching on dark chocolate mandm's as I type this.
You spot celebrity you admire whilst on a plane trip. What, if anything, do you do? Usually I don't do "what if" questions but, since this did happen to me, I can answer it. Many years ago, I was flying back to the US from England and I spotted Cliff Robertson (Spider Man's uncle). After arguing with myself as to whether or not to bother him, I walked to where he was sitting, confirmed who he was, then put out my hand to shake his and introduced myself, first and last name. I told him that I admired his work and we chatted about what he was doing in England. When we deboarded, he looked for me and gave me a wave. It was a good thing. I don't anticipate that kind of reaction from an actor happens very often.
Do you use sunscreen? Definately. Because of how it keeps vitamin D from being absorbed, I supplement.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend. Please stay safe. g
16 febbraio Economic Stimulus PackageGov. Mike*Huckabee came up with a great name for the economic stimulus package passed by congress last week despite the outcry from taxpayers to wait:

13 febbraio Fooey or Fun FestivitiesDo you love me because I am beautiful or am I beautiful because you love me? Anonymous
It's that time of year again - Valentine's day. Do you think it is just a "Hall*mark Holiday" or is it a true holiday?
"The way to love anything is to realize that it might be lost." G.K. Chesterton
One of the things I am guilty of is not daily appreciating the ones who love me and those I love. "No regrets" is how I want to live. Yet, the dirty looks and sarcastic comments flow from me! Not as bad as it used to be but still there. It's time to regret less. Hold me to that, will you? Make me accountable.
"You will find as you look back upon your life that the moments when you have really lived are the moments when you have done things in the spirit of love." Henry Drummond
"To love at all is to be vulnerable." C.S. Lewis
Vulnerability. Being able to trust someone with your inner being. A transparency that invites either total acceptance or partial or total rejection. How many people can you actually trust like that? I am blessed to have several. Still, at times, it is difficult to "put myself out there" and feel safe.
"Do not waste time bothering whether you "love" your neighbor; act as if you did. As soon as we do this we find one of the great secrets. When you are behaving as if you loved someone you will presently come to love him." C.S. Lewis
"Feelings" will mostly get you in trouble if you count on them exclusively to guide you. Mr. Lewis had a great point. Don't believe it? Try it. Whole heartedly and I defy you to prove him, and me, wrong!
"This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ Laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers." 1John 3:16
Do you love anyone enough to lay down your life for them? (Not a Falderal question. No need to answer.)
Now, time for the Falderal:
Do you believe in love at first sight? Sometimes, when watching tv, my son will ask if I think a person is handsome or pretty. I tell him that I can't know without knowing them. Sure, I appreciate a good looking person but if they are ugly on the inside it soon shows on the outside. No. I don't believe in love at first sight.
How did you meet your honey or, if you don't have a honey right now, your best friend? Actually, I was unemployed and Himself was the branch manager of a company I interviewed at. The rest, as they say, is history! I'll blog about it some time in more detail.
Do you think Valentine's Day is a Hall*Mark Holiday (made up for commercial gain)? Yes. However, it is a good reminder to appreciate those we love.
Do you believe that Valentine's Day can exist without quality chocolate? Only in the most dire of cirumstances;)
Do you like receiving or giving flowers? Truthfully, I like the idea in theory but, in our particular situation, all I can of of is the cost for something that is going to make me sneeze and is going to die in a week!
How about you? Love to all, g
06 febbraio Friday Falderal For Finicky FunstersI just had to do that. I don't know why. Actually, I was going to do a whole paragraph with words starting in "f" but decided to spare you.
Bummer about the Cardinals. As BP mentioned, the commercials were so bad that they didn't soften the blow. Except for the Potato Head Couple (Please do take a moment to watch it. I'll wait.). And a Clydesdale commercial or two. Any I missed? Let me know your favorite.
Still, Kurt Warner is a class act and I defy anyone to disagree. A true gentleman is he.
Have any of you seen Bonnie Hunt's talk show? I laugh every time it is on! You might remember her as the mom in Cheaper by the Dozen opposite Steve Martin. Or the sister of Renee' Zellweger in Jerry Maguire. I highly recommend it.
Isabella has been accepted into a full day pre-school disabled program in town. This is big. Very big. Hopefully, she will start within the next two weeks. This caused my daughter to cry with relief and with sadness as she is so upset that Bells has these problems. I understand but I also know God doesn't make any mistakes. Our Bells is thoroughly loved and ever so lovable. She will do fine in this world. As a matter of fact, I believe she will do better than fine.
Many thanks to Debbie (Courage Doesn't Always Roar - don't you love that name for a blog?) and her daughter Nikki for the phone converation Monday evening. We compared where their Eric is at and where Bells is at and I was given some great advice. The two of you rock!
As the SuperBowl ads were so disappointing, what is your favorite commercial of all time? I would have to say the series of commercials Alka*Seltzer had back in the 60's and 70's Whatever Shape Your Stomach's In, I Can't Believe I Ate the Whole Thing, That's a some spicy meat-a-ball......etc. Too funny.
In this age of digital video recorders (dvr's), do you still watch commercials? Only during sporting events. And the occasional commercial that I like.
What or who can always make you laugh - not including a child in your life! That's a hard one - and I make up the questions! Bonnie Hunt is at the top of my list at the moment and her cast of characters (crew).
Who or what can always make you cry? The end of the movie It's a Wonderful Life - "To my big brother George; the richest man in town!" Gets me every time.
Are you reading any good books right now? I am about to finish Ted Dekker's latest novel, Kiss. It's pretty interesting. Also, Emergence Labeled Autistic and Ten Things Every Child With Autism Wishes You Knew.
Hope you have a great weekend. I haven't a clue what we will be doing. Just be safe, will you? I want only good news come Monday!
blessings, g
